Team Grey takes rubber game to win series
Team Grey wins (11-7) with 7th inning comeback
Team Grey Coached by assistant coach Chris Ehlers won the Fall World Series (2-1) with 6 run outburst in 7th. Stanley Roman drove in two to give team Grey the lead and Brady McGuire followed up with another run scoring hit solidifying the win. Connor Gannon pitched a scoreless 7th to close out the win. Andrew Kugler, Will Whitcomb and McGuire all had two hits. Anthony Cusimano had two hits for team Orange. Jimmy Muthersbaugh pitched 3 strong innings for team Orange, Brain Mansfield pitched a scoreless inning. Team Grey starter Luke Pliego pitched three innings for team grey and Jon Beato pitched another scoreless inning. In the series for team Grey, Stanley Roman, Connor Gannon and Will Whitcomb had 4 hits each. Team Orange was lead by Jayson Hannah who had 4 hits, and Ryan Vallie who had 3. This concluded WestConn's 6 week non traditional workout season.

Team Orange takes game 2 (10-3)
Team Orange evened the series at one game a piece with a (10-3) win in game two. They were lead by Zack Barry's 4 strong innings on the mound. Ryan Valie had 2 hits and including a triple, and Anthony Piazza had 2 SF and 2 RBIs. Team Grey was lead by Stanley Roman who had 2 doubles and Connor Gannon who had 2 hits including a triple. Zack Kugler pitched well for team Grey. Jonathan Beato, Zach Ruta and Ken Firlings all pitched scoreless innings. The deciding game three will be played tomorrow at 9am.
Wolves wrap up fall season with Orange Grey World Series
Team Grey takes game 1 (13-7)
Team Grey won game 1 (13-7), Nick Moeller, Will Whitcomb, Brian Birkl, Stanley Roman, Luke Dawson, Peter Coniglio and Connor Gannon had hits. Luke Pliego pitched a scoreless 7th to close out the victory. Team orange was lead by Jayson Hannah who had 2 hits and Spencer Barnett who had a double and a sac fly with a RBI. Luis Zapata was the defensive star of the game making several nice plays. Game two is tomorrow at 3:30pm.
Moeller goes back to back with 2nd Team All LEC DH honors
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its 2023 baseball major award recipients Wednesday, following a vote of the conference's head coaches. Three of the LEC's four major awards went to 2023 LEC regular season champion Rhode Island College.
Western Connecticut State University sophomore Nicholas Moeller (Mahopac, N.Y.) was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
This past spring, Moeller batted .295 with a team-high 36 hits, eight doubles and five home runs. He finished his second season with a .484 slugging percentage and drove in a team-best 22 runs for the 9-29 Wolves.
Following the unexpected end to the 2020 season, it was time for the second All-Decade team of the century. Three teams and honorable mentions were assembled from the list of All-Americans, All-Region and record setting players who played at least two years in the decade. Following the blueprint in compiling the previous All-Decade team, eighty-two players were selected for the 2010's All-Decade team. Western Connecticut State University Hall of Famer Conor Bierfeldt was honored on the Honorable Mention Team after a stellar career in a Colonials' uniform. The multi-category program record holder batted .412 with 24 home runs, 47 doubles, 13 triples, 148 runs batted in and scored 126 runs from 2010-13 as an outfielder, catcher and right-handed pitcher. Bierfeldt was also a perfect 19-of-19 in stolen-base attempts during his career in Danbury, Conn. He was named in both 2012 and 2013 as Baseball Player of the Year in the LEC, and also earned New England Player of the Year honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the American Baseball Coaches Association. Other honors included selections for three years to All-LEC and All-New England teams, and for two years to All-American collegiate squads. The 2018 WCSU Hall of Fame inductee was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Biefeldt has played professional baseball with the Aberdeen IronBirds, Delmarva Shorebirds, Frederick Keys, Bowie Baysox, New Britain Bees and Rockland Boulders.
